Spire Nottingham Hospital are looking to bring on a Health & Safety Administrator and Risk Champion to join their established team at their hospital site located in Tollerton, Nottinghamshire. You will be supporting the Health and Safety Manager in coordinating and implementing the delivery of Health, Safety and Risk strategies at the facility and assisting the Health and Safety Manager in ensuring the provision of high quality and safe care and services at all times.
Duties and responsibilities
- All administration requirements for the maintenance of the Health & Safety Management System folder.
- Collation of H&S incidents from Datix reports. Trends, near misses, etc.
- Updating local health and safety arrangements / policies as required and distributing throughout the facility.
- Maintenance of Hospital Wide Action Plan spreadsheet, following up on outstanding actions as directed by the Health and Safety Manager.
- Administration of the Health &Safety Flash alerts, responding to the central health and safety team within the time frame of 7 days and collation of departmental responses.
- Health & Safety Training - records administrator; assist with course registration, issuing certificates as required.
- Advise the Health and Safety Manager if actions or risk assessments are not being managed in a timely manner.
- Take minutes and distribute minutes of all Health and Safety meetings. Including, Water, Fire, Waste management and Safety Representatives meetings.
- Assisting the Health and Safety Manager in the conducting of quarterly hospital wide health and safety monitoring inspections.
- Assisting the Health and Safety Manager in ensuring that there are adequate induction health and safety training arrangements (including first day fire safety instruction) in place for staff employed at, or routinely working at the facility, and other staff working at the location. This will include agency staff, consultants and staff employed by consultants.
- Coordinating or arranging safety training and monitoring training percentage of mandatory eLearning health and safety related training.
- Assisting with health and safety questions that arise from internal audits and visits by external enforcement agencies.
- Additional specific tasks maybe required as directed by the Health & Safety Manager.
- Manage the facilities risk register ensuring that relevant risk owners / departments undertake a review of the risks assigned within review timescales outlined in FIN 03.
- Support the H&S Manager to manage the hospital wide and departmental risk assessment library for general risk assessments ensuring relevant risk owner/department identify, assess, and mitigating actions are put in place and their effectiveness monitored.
- Advise the Operations Director, Senior Management Team and the hospital Risk, Health and Safety Committee on risk register, seeking further information from the appropriate Group specialists, as necessary.
- Ensure national policies relating to risk management are appropriately circulated and implemented.
- Support the H&S Manager with non-clinical incident reporting, analysis and investigation of risks, accidents, incidents and near misses at the facility.
- Provision of quarterly reports that identify trends from incidents, and support activities to eliminate/reduce risk.
- Attend training as and when required
. Who we're looking for
- Previous experience working in the healthcare industry or a similar customer orientated organisation.
- Ideally comes with 3 years of administration experience.
- Understanding of Health & Safety and risk issues and legislation
- Competent user of the MS Office suite of products in order to meet the requirements of the role
- Ability to understand and manage effectively the impact of competing pressures and conflicting priorities
- Proactive and able to self-motivate
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal and team working skills
