iCaSH Suffolk are excited to be developing and expanding their Results Management and Health Advising Team. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Sexual Health Adviser Technician to join our well established and friendly team across Suffolk.

The successful candidate will be based in Ipswich, however, there may be occasions when travel to our clinics in Bury St Edmunds or Lowestoft is required.

Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust provides Integrated Contraception & Sexual Health (iCaSH) across Bedford, Cambridgeshire, Milton Keynes, Norfolk, Peterborough and Suffolk.

The service delivers care specifically to meet the needs of its diverse population. The Suffolk service is community based with three main clinics in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, and Lowestoft providing contraception, sexual health and HIV care and treatment.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate experience in sexual health and database management.

The successful candidate will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team within the iCaSH Orwell Clinic during the week, with some evening service provision. A strong team-working ethic, excellent communication skills and the ability to focus on tasks with accuracy and consistency are key requirements for this post.

To work as part of the health advising team across iCaSH providing care within the integrated sexual health service, working under the supervision and guidance of the Health Advisers.

The role involves supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care, directed by the Health Advisers.

Clerical duties including but not limited to management of the results notification system, vaccinations recall, treatment compliance follow up and support of service users by telephone or other medium as appropriate (i.e., online testing message platform).

The Health Adviser Technician is a member of the multidisciplinary team.

To ensure that joint working and close co-operation is developed and maintained with staff, both internal and external, to provide a complete and patient focused pathway.

To read, interpret and understand the clinical records of individual patients and be able to action, accurately, tests results. To work with the medical and nursing staff, supporting them with the recall of patients to ensure the safe and timely follow ups occur.

Support in elements of statutory reporting. This will require thorough understanding of both local and national coding rules.

Liaise with medical and nursing staff on queries relating to the interpretation of clinical information recorded in the case notes, obtaining additional patient information where necessary to improve time scales in which patients receive their results, treatment, and partner notification.

Work within the iCaSH Health Adviser Handbook guidance.

The post holder will interact face to face, on the telephone or on online testing message platforms daily with members of the public and patients. They will deal appropriately with all queries to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Regular communication with other organisations such as hospitals, GP practices and Trust staff members will be required to ensure all queries are managed appropriately to maintain efficient and effective service delivery.

Ensure that all positive clinical pathology results received are prioritised and actioned appropriately and to contact patients to inform them of results, arranging follow up and treatment collection.

To operate the stand-alone bespoke computer-based Lilie patient administration system in its entirety including making appointments, registering patient details, sending texts, coding clinical episodes.

To operate additional computer-based systems such as the online testing platform/s for the purposes of patient communication, follow up, and data collection.

Assistant in the management of the recall system for patients that require follow up. To receive, prioritise and deal appropriately with referrals from local stakeholders in the form of letters, emails, and telephone calls.

Assist in the completion of the partner notification process including obtaining information from other Sexual Health Clinics by telephone and e-mail, processing contact slips and cross-reference index patient and contact notes.

The post holder will liaise with pathology laboratories in connection with queries and incomplete or outstanding clinical pathology results. They will communicate the outcome of these issues to the Health Advisers in a timely manner.

Responsible for stock control of patient information leaflets for the Health Adviser role together with any specific stationery and forms.

Assist the nursing team with other duties where workload allows and with prior agreement of the Clinical Nurse Manager.
