We are looking for a Head of Transport and Fleet to lead, develop and implement our strategy, policies and procedures across Marston Holdings Ltd.’s Fleet Management. Within this fast-paced role, you will ensure that the group’s fleet usage is optimised in the best possible manner and establish a standard approach to management of all vehicles, while building strong relationships with both stakeholders and suppliers across the business. For this role business travel will be required.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining full accountability for fleet availability, reliability, maintenance, safety, and presenting detailed monthly reports with regards to compliance across a total fleet of 1,200 vehicles from scooters to trucks.
  • Developing a robust database of all vehicles and any related activities to ensure a high quality of management information is always available.
  • Supporting innovation through new product trials.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of transport legislation and requirements.
  • Ensuring that all legislative requirements of the Fleet are always met through regular fleet and driver audits as well as adhering to its DVSA, VOSA & FORS administration commitments.
  • Maintaining clear and consistent policies and procedures for all aspects of Fleet management, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders, both internal and external are consulted and continually assessed and improved upon where appropriate.
  • Defining and implementing initiatives aimed at reducing our accident rate.
  • Ensuring that all Tachograph charts are controlled in line with legislative requirements.
  • Ensuring budgets and expenditure are aligned with the expectations of the business.
  • Managing the supplier relationship with our Fleet Provider and all associated providers, ensuring compliance with all aspects of agreed SLAs.
  • Working with stakeholders to support the group with its ‘Environmental, Social & Governance’ (ESG) initiatives.
Required experience/skills:
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Transport Manager CPC holder (or similar) and refresher training in the last 5 years
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing a large fleet
  • Proven Fleet Management skills with high levels of commercial aptitude.
  • Strong negotiating skills and the ability to influence and win the confidence of others.
  • Experience in leading a team across a multisite operation with different vehicle and cultures.
  • Experience of dealing with outside organisations such as the DVSA, HSE and The Office of the Traffic Commissioner.
  • Strong knowledge of transport legislation, driver regulations and fleet compliance, and up-to-date knowledge on load security and legislation.
  • Contract management experience.
  • People development and management skills.
  • Experience using tachograph analysis software.
Desirable experience/skills:
  • Member of AFP (Association of Fleet Professionals)
