Head of Supply Chain
ESL is an international trader that sells a huge range of specialised electrical products. Our team have years of experience in sourcing and supplying distribution, automation, control, switchgear and lighting products from leading brands including Schneider, ABB, Eaton, Legrand and Hager.

Our office is in Manchester on Carnarvon Street near the Printworks, and we have warehouses in Manchester, Holland and the USA.
Job Description – Head of Supply Chain
Responsible for the creation of a high performance supply chain, the Head of Supply Chain is accountable for the planning, leading, directing, development and implementation of the ESL supply chain strategy. The supply chain strategy comprises of – the policies, processes, and practices to ensure the business meets its strategic goals. From selection of global/local 3PLs, to managing our own UK warehouse, to ensuring delivery on time and cost targets are fulfilled.
The role requires a strategic thinking & performance driven person, who can balance the needs of the team(s), partners and the business to support an increase in our planned growth.
Responsibilities
- Design, development, and implementation of the SC strategy for the business
- Develop a high performing team who deliver products to customers on-time and within budget
- Implement best practice processes and procedures to improve the SC and interfaces with the business, customers & suppliers
- Develop goals, objectives, and KPI’s which support the SC strategy
- Implement the appropriate controls that mitigate/eliminate risk to the business
- Set and achieve ambitious targets to monitor success and manage any underperformance
- Create a culture of continuous improvement to ensure operational excellence
- Negotiate mutually beneficial contracts with 3PL partner(s) to optimise the total “acquisition and delivered” cost
- Ensure that the company conforms to rigorous standards of health & safety
- Collect and analyse data that provides the business with information to evaluate performance and adapt plans
- Implement monitoring and reporting systems and processes to identify any underperformance

C-Suite first role or keen to progress
FMCG
Knowledge of end-to-end 3PL and awareness of 4PL
