Summary of Role:
This key influential role will drive and underpin Raytheon UK’s growth aspirations with a focus on identifying and addressing future customer needs and translating this into long term strategy which support decision making in underpinning factors such as, investment and workforce planning.
The Head of Strategy must be able to work at all levels within the business both in the UK and build relationships and influence in the wider RTX group across the UK and US. They must have an established and credible rapport with the UK customer community and a wide understanding of Defence & Security needs. They must be able to operate independently at VP level and be willing to be a disruptor and challenge the norm. Some international experience would be beneficial.
The Head of Strategy works very closely with the Leadership of Raytheon UK to support, shape and contribute to our growth discussions. They must also maintain and grow relationships across the wider business; support multiply external cross-cutting Government, Trade bodies / NATO initiatives and work in concert with Government Relations team.
This is a challenging and exciting role that is both hugely rewarding and high profile. Extensive communication skills are required and an approach that is adaptable dependent upon circumstance and situation is imperative. The work location will be flexible, based on demand, but engagements tend to be London and the Home Counties and a flexibility to be available weekly in these locations is essential.

Head of Strategy Duties
- Understand UK Defence policy, customer direction of travel and be able to translate this in to a ‘so what’ for RUK and create our strategy to grow
- Work seamlessly with functions and lines of business to shape and influence longer term direction of travel, but also support near term strategic captures and in-year focus
- Facilitate and drive growth planning discussions across each business area. Focus mind on investments required to derive value in the longer term incl M&A activity and external investments
- Critical thinking and an enquiring mind to take information and translate into an achievable growth plan with routes to market is essential
- Supporting senior customer engagements alongside BD as appropriate and the ability to seamless fit in is essential

Education and Experience
Essential
- Degree or similar plus extensive Defence experience in the UK and preferable with some international experience. This could be in a BD/Strat role in Industry or leadership role in the Government or Armed Forces
- Well established background in Defence & Security
- Experience of working with senior transatlantic business leaders
