Job description

We're an ambitious and dedicated housing association with strong community roots. We're focused on creating homes and communities where people can thrive. We’re looking for people who care as much as we do! We're committed to being a visible and responsive landlord and our Direct Labour Organisation is an essential part of achieving this and in delivering first class customer service.

We’re looking for a senior operational leader to drive forward our direct labour organisation. You’ll have overall responsibility for c90 operatives and will be responsible for the delivery of responsive repairs, voids, an internal kitchen and bathroom programme and a caretaking and grounds maintenance team.

You’ll motivate, nurture and lead your team to ensure they achieve their full potential, and ensure we have a competent and talented workforce that can respond to the needs of the business and our customers. You’ll build in resilience and growth to the teams to ensure that we can provide a high level of service as the organisation expands. You'll drive forward performance, productivity, staff engagement, recruitment and talent management.

As a member of the Leadership team, you'll support the Executive Team and the Boards of mhs homes and its registered provider subsidiary, Heart of Medway Housing Association on the operational management of the organisation and its people with lead responsibility for your area. As a key member of our Leadership Team, you’ll have the ability to maintain a focus on the big picture as well as detail of the day to day delivery, budgets and quality assurance.

You’ll ensure the services delivered are fully compliant with Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices and will have a good understanding of building safety and compliance.

In 23/24 you’ll be responsible for an annual budget of circa £6 million to help you deliver the service. You’ll also have a talented team of dedicated asset professionals who will work with you to make everything happen.

In return, we offer a competitive salary with excellent benefits, including:

  • A performance based annual bonus
  • Pension contributions matched up to 6%
  • 28 days annual leave entitlement (in addition to Bank Holidays)
  • Free Life Assurance
  • Free parking
  • Access to two holiday homes (in Dorset and Norfolk)
  • Flexible benefits scheme (including the opportunity to buy / sell a week’s worth of holiday entitlement per annum)
  • Enhanced family leave policies
  • Training & Development and opportunities for continuing professional development including regular tool box talks
  • A great team of colleagues to work with
  • Regular social and charitable events and a range of wellbeing activities
