Job title: Head of Royalties
Reports to: Group Financial Controller
Location: Victoria House, Bloomsbury Square, Holborn, London
Working pattern: Flexible home working up to three days per week
Department: Royalties
Salary range: £50k - £55k per annum
General Summary
We are currently recruiting a forward-thinking individual to lead in the development and running of the Royalties function within a fast-growing publishing industry leader. The team consists of a head of royalties, a senior administrator and two assistants who have responsibility for royalties on over £90m of turnover.
Essential job functions/responsibilities
- Overseeing the royalty period end processes and finalising the quarterly, semi-annual and annual statement runs
- Uploading sales files from various distributors
- Creating, analysing and working from reports
- Reporting of third-party rights income receipts
- Overall management of the royalty department and performance reviews
- Working with teams across the business to build relationships and good processes
- Liaising with clients and agents regarding escalated issues / statement queries
- Providing leadership in development of new processes and systems to manage changes to contractual terms and new income streams
- Leading on projects to help improve and grow the business and function
- Strategic change management and training
- Ad hoc duties as required
Qualifications and experience
- Knowledge of the publishing industry and experience working with Biblio advantageous
- Experience working within the creative industries in a royalties-focused position required. This would be a great opportunity for someone looking for their next step

- Friendly, approachable and able to remain calm under pressure
- Strong numerical skills and experience in Excel required
- Must be comfortable taking phone calls and be able to build positive ongoing relationships with our valued authors, illustrators and agents
- Understanding complex royalty structures such as joint ventures
