JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Head of Retail
Reporting to: Commercial Director
Based at: Rotherham United Football Club, AESSEAL New York Stadium, Rotherham, S60 1AH
Working Hours: 35 hours per week plus match days and non-matchday Saturdays on a rota basis.
PURPOSE OF ROLE (Please note in addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required)
- Work closely with the Head of Supporter Services, Retail Assistants and Commercial Director
- To maximise profitable growth of the Retail department and to ensure financial targets are achieved
- Shape the retail store and website, attracting visitors to buy via astute, effective buying, merchandising and targeted marketing
- To successfully build, manage and maintain a team of dedicated retail staff to ensure potential is achieved
- Shape the product offer, the visual merchandising and ensure the integrity of the clubs’ image is maintained by high standards of customer service and operating procedures
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure high standards of merchandising
- Manage the retail operation and online sales area of the business
- Maintain excellent customer service
- Maintain effective security procedures for stock and cash
- Drive sales from the online merchandising system via communication and guidance with the Commercial Director
- Work closely with the Media Department to create effective PR and marketing campaigns in order to maximise online sales and profitability
- Ensure stock management and internal invoicing are managed efficiently.
- Create a timely and profitable buying structure
- Promote inclusion, diversity and equality with the Department
- Promote and generate new ideas across all areas of Retail, promote profitable initiatives and guide their implementation
- Ensure all necessary reports are provided to Senior Management
- Maintain effective stock management systems
- Follow all club operating and administration procedures in a timely fashion
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Commercial Director
- Work closely with the Head of Supporter Services supporting the ticket sales operation as and when required
- Manage relationships with all external suppliers, including Kit Partner, placing relevant orders and receiving deliveries.
REQUIREMENTS TO FULFILL THE ROLE
Experience of delivering excellent customer service in a retail environment
Retail Store Management experience
IT and Specialised Systems Training as appropriate
Assertive leader and role model who leads by example
Good Management and Communication skills
Organised and methodical procedures
Strong customer service skills, customer focused and driven
Honest, Trustworthy and Hardworking
Excellent people management skills
