Trócaire Northern Ireland is a subsidiary of Trócaire established as a company limited by guarantee, to deliver Trócaire’s operations in Northern Ireland.
Role:
As a member of the Ireland Division’s leadership team, the purpose of the Head of Region (NI) role is to lead the implementation of Trócaire’s Ireland Divisional strategy in Northern Ireland by building dynamic communities of change to achieve global justice. Reporting to the Director of Ireland Programmes, the Head of Region (NI) will be responsible for public engagement, income generation, marketing, managing Trócaire’s Northern Ireland office and acting as the Company Secretary for Trócaire’s Northern Ireland Board.
Reporting to the Director of Ireland Programmes, this is a permanent role for indefinite duration and is based in Belfast. The incumbent will manage a small team with 2 direct reports, 11 in team overall. An application can be made for a hybrid working arrangement under the hybrid working policy.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Organisational Leadership: as a member of the Ireland Division’s Leadership Team, contribute strongly to the setting and delivery of Divisional strategic objectives and support the delivery of cross-organisational initiatives and projects
- Strategy: contribute to the delivery and regular review of the Ireland Divisional strategy (2021-2025). Ensure delivery of the key elements of Trócaire’s strategic plan in Northern Ireland including; Outreach (Development Education, Advocacy Campaigns, Church Outreach and Volunteers), Communications and Income Generation (Public and Institutional)
- Team Leadership: Lead the Trócaire Northern Ireland team to continue to be a high performing and dynamic team. Within Trócaire’s matrix management structure, foster a culture of empowered accountability across Trócaire Northern Ireland within the Ireland Division with a coaching style of leadership to enhance team performance and motivation
- Relationship and Stakeholder Management: Lead engagement with external stakeholders including Church leaders, key Politicians, UK and NI Government Departments, Education Stakeholders, Major Donors, the Media and relevant Networks
- Governance: Fulfil the role of Company Secretary for Trócaire’s Northern Ireland Board, supporting the Board’s governance and oversight roles. Engage with Board members to build strong working relationships to deliver Trócaire’s strategic objectives
- Operational Effectiveness: Ensure the successful delivery of Trócaire’s operational plan and meet the agreed key performance indicators. Oversee the delivery of the NI operational plan KPIs and manage the NI budget.
- Communication: Act as spokesperson for Trócaire in the media, conducting interviews across television, radio and print as required.

Requirements
Person Specification – Essential Requirements
(E) Experience
Demonstrable track record in a relevant area
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior leadership role
Experience of working with a Board of non-executive Directors and knowledge of the role of a company secretary
(E) Skills
A proven track record of leading, managing and motivating teams to achieve objectives and financial targets in a cross-organisational context
Ability to influence and manage strategic external stakeholder relationships
Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills including external partnership management
Understanding and experience in the acquisition and
management of funding from Private and Institutional donors
Knowledge of the Not-For-Profit sector and ideally International Development

Benefits
The salary range for this role is £50,000 - £60,000.
