Destination/ Roadmap
Our combined operations within Transdev Blazefield employ around 1,500 people, operate 600 vehicles and boast an annual turnover of around £75 million. Our operations at Transdev Blazefield across 10 locations in the north of England include a diverse portfolio of bus operations, from local urban networks, to high-profile interurban connections and leisure & sightseeing services. Much of this exists within an intensely commercial, (B2G2C) environment, which – whilst deregulated – requires a customer and client centric approach to maximise our potential.
In the coming years, our ambitions in the UK and at group level are to accelerate the development of electromobility solutions for our clients (Public Authorities, businesses and end users) and to accompany our existing and future institutional clients in their transition in developing sustainable and innovative mobility solutions.
Missions
The Head of People is responsible for providing guidance, support and leadership to Directors and Senior Managers across the business on all people related topics.
The post holder will use their experience, knowledge and skill to guide the business on Employment Law and best practice within the field of HR. This will be in relation to all aspects of HR including Employee Relations, Training and Development, Resourcing, Reward and Recognition.
The processes, procedures and strategy surrounding the way in which our colleagues are managed and developed will be created, updated and controlled by the post holder who will work with the business leaders to ensure these are fit for the business needs based on the strategy of the business.
The post will also support in addition in human resources related aspects very specific missions associated with our business development and neighbouring operations around Heathrow Airport.
The main missions consist in:
- Representing HR consistently and with professionalism
- Providing company-wide information by interpreting people data and analysing figures
- Giving counsel and oversee complex employee relations issues such as grievance and disciplinary cases and manage difficult cases with professionalism.
- UK reporting of Transdev businesses to Transdev group
- Updating and review HR policies, procedures and guidelines and enforce our values.
- Leading on special people-based projects such as StepUp, and communicate and direct on strategy and implementation.
- Challenging the Directors where appropriate and suggest alternative paths.
- Continuously reviewing the responsibilities of the HR function and make bold decisions when necessary.
- Ensuring managers are provided with suitable guidance, support and training in all HR related processes
- Devising and implementing strategies across talent management, change management, employee engagement, process improvement, reward, recognition and risk management
- Leading on colleague benefit initiatives
- Leading on the development and implementation of progressive HR and Talent Management strategies
- Coordinating employee training and development initiatives
- Ensuring that the organization is compliant with UK Employment Law
- Coaching and developing Senior managers and Directors
- Providing HR solutions for day-to-day business needs, including employee relations advice, recruitment, ensuring compliance aligned with regulation and UK employment law.
- Providing HR guidance, support and expertise to all businesses for all HR activity Supporting line managers with disciplinary, grievances, absence management & performance management issues and ensure all cases are completed within reasonable timeframes and legal frameworks
- Providing training to all managers on HR processes, ensuring they have all relevant documentation, in order to follow procedures correctly
- Leading on employment tribunal cases where necessary
- Supporting the salary review process
- Reviewing existing pension arrangements, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements
- TUPE management; ensuring all staff are employed by correct businesses and that this is clearly reflected in each contract
- Providing support to the Directors in all aspects relating to people management.
Skills & Knowledge
- Level 7 CIPD qualified preferred
- Able to demonstrate a commercial approach to HR delivery and transformation projects
- Proven experience in both strategic and operational capacity
- Previous experience implementing strategies across culture & engagement, training, performance management, talent management, change management, employee relations and recruitment
- Ability to work independently and with agility in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of employee relation and UK employment law with a generalist background
- Multi-site experience
