Job purpose
Responsible for the Cut Packing, Pot Packing and Logistics Departments, the role will be to manage the teams in delivering the best possible quality, on time and in full whilst keeping the cost of production to a minimum and achieving budgeted wastage targets. Excellent leadership is therefore a vital part of this role, directing the teams to pro-actively work towards the delivery of customer service, budget targets, and profit improvement plans whilst promoting the Company’s vision and values.
The Head of Operations will report to the Managing Director and through effective leadership will drive Operational Excellence agenda while never compromising on personal or food safety. The role is about managing and developing the teams and continually optimising the Operations function and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships across the supply chain.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities

- Ensure the safety of all employees through safe working practices, operating procedures and training
- Keep Food Safety at the centre of all activities;
- Set and implement the Operational Excellence agenda using a data led approach to continually improve our quality; cost efficiency and customer service
- Manage the production facility, focussing on effective labour utilisation and waste reduction;
- Managing the operations team in the process of customer orders, factory scheduling and production of master data for the operation;
- Manage the inbound and outbound logistics operation in the most cost effective way including the negotiation of 3PL contracts
- Achieve and maintain market leading Customer Service levels; and
- Drive automation and cutting edge factory operations and integration of IT systems aiming for factory 4.0
- Assume a leadership role with external visitors to the site including customers, auditors and other stakeholders to show case the strengths of Vitacress
Essential Duties:
- Drive a continuous improvement culture throughout the team;

- Ability to thrive in a pressured environment, with limited direction and broad responsibilities;
- Identifies root cause(s) of OTIF gaps and introduce effective measures to improve;
- Promotes quality to the team as a key performance measures and ensure quality standards are at best maintained and improved where scope exists;
- Conducts regular appraisals/performance reviews for direct reports and ensure this process is effectively cascaded through the entire Operations team;
- Takes responsibility for adherence to departmental budgets continually striving to reduce costs where opportunities exists; and
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and to develop and implement actions plans.

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent
- Significant experience of working in Production, Operations or Supply Chain
- Food, Pharmaceuticals FMCG experience
