Job description
As part of Tropic’s ongoing and exciting evolution, we are looking for a dynamic and successful Head of Operations to take full ownership and responsibility for monitoring, maintaining, and increasing the efficiency of the business from an operational point of view.
Reporting into the Managing Director, this critical leadership role will require you to leverage your operational experience of working within complex, fast-paced, high-SKU (stock-keeping unit) environments and managing direct reports across various inhouse departments. Your aim will be to ensure streamlined production of goods and services, whilst also analysing and improving organisational processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES will include (but not limited to)
- Promote high company morale and communicate operating policies, customer issues and safety measures.
- Provide leadership to improve important policy and strategic decisions.
- Perform financial predictions by preparing the annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analysing variance, and initiating corrective actions.
- Review and approve operational invoices, forwarding them to payment.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Oversee and manage a team of direct reports across cross-functional departments including Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Warehouse and Dispatch.
- Manage the Health and Safety Committee and work with People & Culture on all teams' developments, including recruitment, training management and disciplinaries.
- Be the Health and Safety lead for all departments, ensuring that Tropic’s Health and Safety culture on-site is maintained to the highest standard at all times.
- Increase the efficiency of operational processes and software's.
- Upskill the team and create a great place for people to work through empowering coaching and team development.
- Drive manufacturing efficiencies and a continuous improvement in the culture e.g. drive productivity (cost per unit), inventory reduction, and reduce waste costs across the area.
ABOUT YOU
- Demonstrable experience (at least 7-10 years), leading Operations within a sizeable FMCG manufacturing organisation is essential.
- Operations experience from a skincare, beauty or cosmetic contract manufacturing organisation is highly desirable.
- Well versed in world-class manufacturing and able to implement effective continuous improvement techniques.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- The ability to lead, drive and implement substantial change whilst ensuring daily operational standards are maintained.
- A passionate, communicative leader, with a track record of driving performance through coaching, development, and training.
- An intuitive mindset with a proactive, reliable, and responsible approach.
- The ability to work cross-functionally with other departments to drive business performance.
- Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office programmes.
- Health and Safety certification desirable.
ADDITIONAL
- Full time: 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.
- Office is conveniently located just 3 minutes’ walk from Beddington Lane Tram stop, which is connected to East Croydon and Wimbledon - both 20 minutes away. Approx. 30 - 35 minutes travel time from South / South West London.
