Job description
To manage the manufacturing footprint for Nelsons ensuring that the facilities and all operations are carried out in compliance with all appropriate company, regulatory, and legislative standards. Pro-actively lead the Operations teams, with the key objective of ensuring the delivery of high quality products at the right service level and cost. Have a strong focus on developing the leadership and accountability of senior managers and their teams, developing and implementing a culture of continuous improvement to improve operating efficiencies.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure all sites are well managed and run, in accordance with all compliance, regulatory and legislative standards.
- Maintain a site master plan to ensure the sites have the necessary visibility to maintain a good reliability and meets future business needs.
- Own and manage the manufacturing P&L to ensure the budget is met and exceeded, and a pipeline of projects are identified to meet future budget requirements.
- To deliver high quality products as outlined in the agreed production schedules across the sites.
- Drive a programme of continuous improvement across all areas of Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Morale (PQCDSM).
- Accountable for driving the output of the sites to optimise the mix and volume of product made and the working capital through effective leadership and engagement in the S&OP process.
- To create a dynamic workforce, capable of responding quickly to different production requirements, minimising down time as far as possible.
- To develop and implement operating systems with the aim of maintaining and increasing productivity (including BRFT) and reliability within the plant.
- To provide operational support to the Technical and Quality Assurance departments to ensure that all production equipment and facilities are properly validated and maintained.
- Chair regular site meetings, attended by representatives from all associated production functions ensuring robust PQCDSM performance.
- For new product initiatives/ outsourcing/ in sourcing, assess production feasibility, budget for associated capital expenditure, provide cost of production and ensure the appropriate supply chain resources are available.
- Participate in the company SIP program, and internal audit program.

- Lean Sigma Qualification is desirable.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety desirable
- Experience in production management within a manufacturing/ pharmaceutical environment essential
- Strong GMP experience
- Experience with High Performance Work Systems desirable
