The Ruskin Mill Trust Group operates five colleges and associated residential provisions in; Nailsworth, Stourbridge, Sheffield, Birmingham, Pembrokeshire, as well as independent specialist schools in Worcestershire, Bristol, Sheffield and an associated site in Darlington. We provide innovative and experiential education for children and young people with special learning needs, developed out of the inspiration of Rudolf Steiner, William Morris and John Ruskin.
Head of Maintenance and Aesthetics
Salary from September 2023: £44,690 - £46,429 per annum
40 hours per week/ 52 weeks per year.
This position is based at Ruskin Mill College and will have responsibility for all the sites of Ruskin Mill College, including the residential provisions in the community as well as the Trust buildings based in Nailsworth.
The post holder will be responsible for line managing and coordinating the work of the maintenance team to carry out the work required within the parameters set, standards required and using materials and methods approved by Ruskin Mill Land Trust at multiple sites in Nailsworth and with occasional travel to other Trust sites.
The post holder will ensure that the Genius Loci of the site is always considered prior to any work being planned or carried out to ensure that the work is done compassionately to support the historical and natural environmentals of each individual site.
The Head of Maintenance and Aesthetics will work alongside Ruskin Mill Land Trust, Trust Architect, the Directors and Principals in providing a vital function in being the initial central point of contact for all maintenance (emergency and pre planned developments).
Main Duties will include:
- To plan, oversee and quality assure all maintenance work across the associated sites in line with the genius loci of each site;
- To ensure through appropriate maintenance and checks of the sites, that the Trust and its sites provide a safe working environment for students and staff;
- To lead the maintenance team, by coordinating work for all sites within area of responsibility;
- To manage and oversee the maintenance budget, including costing and prioritisation.
You may be required to travel to other Trust sites and evening and weekend work may be required.
