Job description

The Head of Legal Services CU UK & Ireland (“Head of Legal Services”) requires a very high level of competence within the field of commercial and corporate law to ensure that the purpose and objectives of the Ericsson Group, MELA, Group Function Legal Affairs & Compliance (“GFLA”) and the CU are fulfilled.


This role requires proven integrity, and wide ranging experience of negotiating with customers and suppliers in the ICT sector in challenging circumstances and timeframes, extensive and recognised leadership experience and skills, very good business understanding and awareness and the ability to support and work with high and top-level Ericsson managers in the CU and the rest of Ericsson for any legal matter's arising! It will also require you to independently lead a team of in-house legal counsels employed within the unit Legal Services CU UK & Ireland (the “Unit”).


The Head of Legal Services will report to the Head of Legal Affairs MELA.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that corporate, MELA, GFLA and other Ericsson policies, directives and instruction are fulfilled
  • Establish and manage an efficient and well-functioning organisation for the Unit and coordinate its resources
  • Prepare and follow up on budgets and forecasts for the Unit
  • Monitor and follow up on CU related claims and litigations
  • Be a member of the leadership team for Legal Affairs MELA
  • Be responsible for the hiring, engagement and coordination of external lawyers used by Ericsson legal entities active in the CU!
  • Prepare and assist in CU related compliance and corporate governance activities, including providing legal and risk reports to the Head of Legal Affairs MELA and preparation and establishment of internal policies, directives and instructions
  • Support Legal Affairs MELA as well as other GFLA activities
  • Be readily available so that clients requesting legal assistance are provided good and effective support
  • Continuously develop appropriate and more efficient methods and tools for providing legal support and generally improve quality of and reduce costs for legal services
  • In concert with business responsible staff, review and develop business models and ways of conducting business with the aim to increase efficiency and quality and to facilitate for the client to achieve its business goals
  • Work proactively by providing working tools, training, etc. to improve general legal awareness
  • As per Ericsson group and MELA directives and instructions, ensure review and approval of all major business transactions where a legal entity of the Group in the CU is a party
  • Report local legal matters to the Head of Legal Affairs MELA and Head of GFLA


MAIN QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Laws, or equivalent proven experience
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Demonstrable working experience as a corporate and commercial lawyer
  • Good networking ability and great social skills including the ability to handle internal contacts, external counsel and counter parties
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • International experience and cultural awareness
  • Ability to independently handle and manage legal matters and/or resources
  • Driven team player who initiates and inspires changes
  • Proven track record to gain respect from clients as well as external parties
  • Ability not only to analyse and understand details in specific matters and transactions but also to apply legal, business and financial aspects from a Group perspective
