The Head of Legal, Compliance & Regulatory will have responsibility for leading and overseeing the provision of advice and support to the Group across the full range of legal compliance and regulatory matters for the business and its brands globally.
This is a leadership role and will adopt a partnership approach with senior stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. The role will have regular interaction with senior executive leadership (including CEO and CFO) and with other key senior stakeholders at the Group level as well as with senior leaders within the business units. The role will also work closely with the other Heads of Legal within the UK and the global teams.
- Lead group-wide competition law compliance programme, including support to GGC&CS on managing applicable board protocols and information flows and dealing with competition aspects of corporate and commercial transactional as well as ad-hoc queries relating to competition law.
- Working with the Group Risk and Assurance team, providing legal compliance advice on relevant matters involving Ethics/Code of Conduct, anti-corruption, conflicts of interest and the legal aspects of KY3P and third-party intermediary risk assessment and anti-money laundering regulations. Leading/assisting in managing any internal investigations where applicable.Leading and supporting GGC&CS and Group Risk and Assurance team on managing corporate response to any compliance-related regulatory investigations or enquiries.
- Primary lawyer responsible for coordination and management of appropriate Group-wide global legal and compliance training programme, ensuring content is up to date, relevant and delivered to appropriate employees in an appropriate form and with suitable cadence and timing.
- Take the lead in terms of implementing and coordinating appropriate regulatory horizon scanning activities (working closely with Corporate Affairs & Americas/APAC Heads of Legal, as well as appropriate external resources), ensuring wherever possible that key emerging or changing laws or regulations which have potential relevance for the business are identified ahead of time
- Collaborating with the Data Privacy Manager to ensure Edrington conducts its business in compliance with applicable data privacy laws, effectively manages privacy risks, and promotes best privacy practices throughout the organisation. Direct line management responsibilities for the Group Data Privacy Manager and will have dotted line management responsibilities for the Legal and Compliance Officer in the MEIA region.
- Primary point of legal support on other key relevant areas of compliance, including trade/tariffs/export issues, marketing code compliance, brand packaging and labelling compliance, product liability and health and safety matters (working closely with GSC and Macallan operations teams), digital/social media compliance and associated policies (working closely with Technology and Corporate Affairs teams) and on Group and business unit ESG initiatives.Supporting GGC&CS and HR Director with the management of speaking-up cases, including internal compliance-related investigations where required.
- Deputise for UK legal team peers where required providing legal support and advice to other internal stakeholders as needed.
