JOB TITLE: Head of Islands Risk, LBCM Islands
LOCATION(S): The role will be primarily based in Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man*, however regular travel to each island will be required for anyone looking to work out of our London office.
- As this role is based in the Channel Islands or Isle of Man, it is a requirement that you hold a Resident Certificate or an Employment Permit.

About this opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled individual to become the Head of Islands Risk for the Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets (LBCM) Islands business.
LBCM is the non-ring fenced bank of the Group. The LBCM Islands business provides retail and commercial banking services through its branches to customers in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man (the Islands). It also provides banking services to large institutional clients and international private banking clients. The Islands business is an integral part of LBCM and its growth plans.
The Head of Islands Risk will lead the 1st line Islands team based locally. Additional responsibilities include leading a team of risk professionals across the full range of risk specialties and work with the regulatory bodies on each island providing risk partnership, governance, insight and application of the risk management framework in line with local laws and regulations.
The role offers an opportunity to collaborate with teams across multiple jurisdictions and the wider Group in order to support the Islands growth strategy and progress your personal and professional development in parallel.
As the Head of Islands Risk, you’ll:
- Lead and partner the formulation and delivery of risk strategies, policies and procedures to identify risks, advise the business on risk mitigation and control and embed a culture of compliance, ensuring that risks are mitigated, and the bank operates in a safe and compliant way.
- Take ownership for fulfilling business plans for a substantial functional business area by effectively leading a large team.
- Engage and partner with senior business leaders to understand long-term strategic challenges.
- Develop a comprehensive policy framework for a significant area of the business, then coordinates implementation within the organisation.
- Maintain relationships with strategic internal customers and act as their risk partner, while typically using large support teams to ensure compliance and appropriate risk framework management.
- Add to the development, creation and release of risk policies, underlying procedures and supervises their embedding into the organisation.
- Monitor and lead a wide range of activities of a significant team ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements by collaborating closely with all internal risk management.
- Maintain strong relationships with each Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man regulators.

What you’ll need:
- Extensive experience of working in a Risk environment (with relevant qualifications).
- Ability to apply a well-rounded set of skills to assess business practices – putting customers first, whilst ensuring sustainable growth, and an ambition to apply your knowledge within the Island's business segments.
- Understanding of Economic Crime Prevention (ECP), Conduct, Compliance, Operational Risk (CCOR), Credit Risk and the nature of these non-financial and financial risks in the Islands’ jurisdictions.
- Ability to influence with impact, building positive relationships and communicate effectively.
- A desire to learn and grow evidencing thought leadership and curiosity, motivated by continuous improvement.
- Ability to coach, lead and empower the team and are energised about the Group’s purpose of Helping Britain Prosper and in turn Helping the Islands Prosper.
