In 2021 Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) rated Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service as outstanding at preventing fires, responding to major incidents and making the best use of resources.
We have begun to build a new state of the art Training and Development Academy which will allow us to expand and increase our training, with the potential to become a centre of excellence for national training. We are also the lead authority role for National Resilience on behalf of the Home Office.
To enable us to achieve our vision and continue to provide value for money, we are seeking to recruit a Head of Finance. This is a pivotal, strategic role within the Finance and Procurement Directorate. We are looking for an inspirational, dynamic and motivational leader, who is committed to achieving our vision, aims and implementing our values across the Finance Department.
As the Head of Finance you will deputise for the Treasurer on all financial issues affecting the Authority, you will act as the responsible officer when the Treasurer is not present. Responsibilities include delivering the Authorities revenue and capital budgets, providing leadership and management across the Finance Department, incorporating Accounting, Exchequer Services, Internal Audit, Payroll and Pensions, and Treasury Management, ensuring that the Finance Department contributes to the achievement of corporate objectives.
You will have responsibility for the production of the Authority’s annual accounts, ensuring compliance with the Accounts and Audit regulations. You will have a proven track record of delivering effective financial management, revenue/capital budget setting and monitoring within local government finance and legislation. Combined with extensive strategic financial management experience.
