Head of Finance - Electric Vehicle Charging

Sainsbury’s is creating an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging proposition. This is a unique opportunity to be the Finance lead on the development, implementation and running of this new business. This role will be a key member of the EV charging leadership team helping delivery the strategy and responsible for leading on all financial aspects of the business. This includes everything from leading the financial setup of the business through to business case development and providing commercial decision support to grow the business at pace.
What you need to do
- Develop and lead the financial integration plan of the business into Sainsbury’s PLC including systems & data flows, process design and implementation, GL setup and reporting
- Lead the development and maintenance of a robust business plan providing an effective strategy for growth and determine future funding needs
- Working with Control assurance, develop a financial control framework for the business
- Develop a suite of performance reporting providing the business with clarity on the performance of the business, return on investment and proactive insight to drive growth and profitability
- Own and implement the required financial set play processes (Budget, Latest View etc.) ensuring alignment with financial planning
- Partner the EV Charging team on all financial matters and provide commercial decision support by driving continuous improvement and the execution of the strategy
- Support the business in identifying risks and opportunities. Take the lead in prioritising these and work with the business to manage them
- Hold the business to account for performance, identifying areas for value creation and building action plans that are put into place
- Work with Tax to ensure the business adheres to tax requirements in the most efficient way
- Work with Treasury to ensure that the funding requirements and cashflow requirements of the business are met

- Experience of maintaining strong financial controls
- Effective communicator and challenger with stakeholders up to and including board level, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen
- Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with extensive post qualification experience at a senior level within practice, retail or an equivalent fast moving organisation
What decisions I can make including budget
- Design and execute the finance integration plan
- Shaping the business plan and delivering the targets for the EV business
- Supporting both the strategic direction and tactical decision making for the EV business
- Spend and approvals in line with Head of Finance grade
Directly or indirectly manages
- Indirect leadership of a cross functional team to deliver the requirements of the role
- Potential for direct report(s) to support the ongoing requirement of the role
