As a Head for Enterprise Risk, you will focus on the assessment and governance of enterprise risks taken by the firm, with a focus on the holistic identification and analysis of emerging risks. In your role, you will evaluate firm wide risks on an aggregate basis and to align this across the firm, formalize the firm’s risk strategy and policy (Risk Appetite Statement), and be instrumental in developing, maintaining, and advancing the Risk Management Framework.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Be accountable for the maintenance and enhancement of DWS Risk Inventory, Risk Taxonomy, and Assessment Grid
  • Support the update and enhancement of DWS Risk Management Framework
  • Develop Enterprise Risk Management objectives, strategies and policies that establish the framework to achieve successful risk identification and management
  • Design and implement the Risk Identification procedures meeting Enterprise-wide Risk Identification standards
  • Ensure the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) is a) accurate; b) reflective of material risks across the business; and c) appropriate governance processes are implemented and managed to ensure the RAS remains up to date and addresses risks as they emerge
  • Work with the Heads of Corporate and Fiduciary Risk types to ensure the integration and escalation of material risks to & for scenario planning and capital planning
  • Provide insights on emerging risks and industry trends to senior management
  • Own reporting of corporate risk informing Executive Management and other key stakeholders by providing insight into risk exposures and the performance against risk appetite which will facilitate decision making discussions at relevant management and governance committees
  • Gatekeeper for all regulatory changes impacting DWS Risk and working with the Heads of the respective Risk types to a) assess the change and understand its impact; b) confirm the implementation of actions necessary to give effect to the changes in policies and procedures; and c) ensure effective communication of the changes/impacts with all relevant stakeholders
  • Be accountable for and/or direct respective Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with regard to Internal Capital Risk Identification and Scenario Design across different regulatory regimes

Your skills and experience:

  • Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, or the like. Relevant experience in the financial services industry, preferably in risk management or asset management
  • Strong fundamental understanding of the asset management business and technical knowledge of financial markets, products, and processes
  • Deep understanding of Risk Management frameworks with a focus on Corporate Financial Risks (Market, Credit, Liquidity) and Non-Financial Risk Types
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills, with ability to explain complex concepts
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage and analyse large amounts of data and execute against tight deadlines
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
