Gleeson Recruitment Group are working with a leading Utilities organisation who are looking for a Head of Enterprise Architecture to join them in their growth. This role will be replacing an interim and will be key in growing the existing team out. They are looking for an experienced Head of Enterprise Architecture to hit the ground running straight away and help develop their strategy for Technology & Change. About the role: This role will be responsible for shaping significant architecture and technology decisions aligned with the portfolio plan. Responsible for defining and championing architecture and design frameworks, governance and the processes that underpin them. Ensuring that the practices and standards support technology investments that deliver value and reduce risk. As the most senior architect you will support and influence a matrix team to ensure that the practices and standards support technology investments that deliver value and reduce risk. In the role you will: Develop and optimise the business architecture strategy based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations. Apply a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views of the enterprise. Capture the tactical and strategic enterprise goals that provide traceability through the organisation and are mapped to metrics that provide ongoing governance. Accountable for the translation of complex business systems into a new enterprise architecture that simplifies the technology ecosystem and helps to define the path to successful implementation through our transformation programmes. Accountable for ensuring any new designs and projects meet functional requirements, system compliance, and any predefined standards. Experience needed: 10 years + experience in the management of enterprise scale IT services with good levels of technical understanding across a broad range of applications and infrastructure and the significance of its role within the business.. Proven experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of technology architecture, with at least 3 years experience in leading IT architecture teams and strategy efforts. A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance The ability to recognize structural issues within the organisation, functional interdependencies and cross-silo redundancies The ability to apply architectural principles to business solutions The ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate their collective relevance to the organisation and to high-priority business issues Experience using model-based representations that can be adjusted as required to collect, aggregate or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the business The ability to visualise and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture Extensive experience planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives Experience modelling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organisation; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualisations The ability to act as liaison conveying information needs of the business to IT and data constraints to the business; applies equal conveyance regarding business strategy and IT strategy, business processes and workflow automation, business initiatives and IT initiatives, and benefit realisation and service delivery Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organisation with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities Have good relevant knowledge and awareness of market/industry trends Have financial acumen to assess and control investments and costs including management of CAPEX IT budgets Lead by example and mentor indirect reports Excellent stakeholder management skills and capable of managing expectations effectively. Direct, hands-on experience with architecture and design methodologies and frameworks - must have successfully implemented an architectural framework in a complex enterprise environment.
