The role
As Head of Engineering Forward you will have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working where your knowledge and drive is really needed to make a difference, an exciting New Project with international exposure. The purpose of this role is to manage, review and validate technical military equipment questions, responses and solutions received from the operational user /customer.
The purpose of this role is for the delivery and operational outputs of the Babcock Equipment Support function under a new Project, Project BLUEPRINT.
Main tasks
- Responsible for the security, management and the Real-Life Support of Babcock Forward personnel, Supply Chain and Industrial partners, in support of Phase 1-4 of the Op BLUEPRINT programme based in Europe
- Manage the day-to-day Equipment Support activities and resources.
- Direct link to the Technical Reach Back Co-ordination Cell responsible for generating BLUEPRINT metrics and progress on a weekly and monthly basis
- Attend all Project related meetings
- Leads on the liaison with key strategic partners based forward
- Provides engineering sign off to technical solutions
- Responsible for the accounting of P-Cards with Babcock finance
- Lead for communicating, maintaining and developing the Equipment Support Functions with key stakeholders
- Provide leadership by building and motivating team members to meet ES goals and adhering to their responsibilities
Essential experience of the Head of Engineering Forward,
- Chartered Engineer
- Excellent planning, co-ordination and organisation skills
- Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and operational functions in the organisation
- Commercial awareness and customer relationship management skills.
- Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
- Research best practices within and outside the organisation to establish benchmark data and use continuous process improvement disciplines to achieve results
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise team members supported with strong influencing skills
- Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe
