About The Role
RAC have an amazing new opportunity for a new Head of Data Privacy to manage our dynamic, fast paced Data Protection Team and serve as Group Data Protections Officer. This is a key strategic role for the RAC as we continue to evolve our digital and data strategy, with opportunities to play a major part in how we shape our plans for the future.
The role sits within our Governance, Risk & Compliance division which prides itself on providing excellent technical advice and commercial solutions – we like to operate alongside the business, taking a “hands-on” partnering approach.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a team of three Data Protection Managers who provide data protection advice and monitor compliance for all RAC Group companies and divisions, and they will also play a key role in shaping our overall approach to Governance, Risk & Compliance strategy, working closely with the heads of the other functions that sit within that division. We are a collegiate, sociable and fun-loving team, passionate about getting the right results for our business, customers and colleagues.
You will be an experienced data protection practitioner, ideally with at least 2 years’ experience at Head of level or equivalent. Evidence of strong communication skills managing senior stake holders advising on and helping to shape RAC’s digital and data strategy.
This is a hybrid role working 2 days a week in the office based from either of our Bescot or Bradley Stoke locations.
What you will do
- Developing, maintaining, and implementing appropriate frameworks, policies and processes in relation to Data Protection.
- Monitoring compliance with our data protection governance framework
- Providing privacy leadership, including training and colleague engagement.
- Keeping up to date in respect of legislative and regulatory changes and industry best practice and ensuring that any changes are implemented as appropriate within the Group.
- Leading the response to personal data breaches including acting as the point of contact for the ICO.
- Keeping senior management up to date with new developments and gaps in the Group’s compliance programmes in relation to data protection.
- Reviewing and advising on Data Protection Impact Assessment.
- Maintaining our records of data processing.
- Liaising with suppliers and our partner organisations regarding Data Protection compliance and enquiries.
- Overseeing RAC’s handling of GDPR requests.
Qualifications
Preferable if you are CIPP-E or similar qualifications, the successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the Data Protection Act, UK GDPR and e-Privacy Regulation and ideally come from an Insurance background.
You will show excellent judgment making skills and have experience in leading a team
