Head of Communications
Who we are:
ICAS is a global professional membership organisation and business network for Chartered Accountants (CAs), We’re an educator, regulator, examiner and a professional awarding body. Formed by the Royal Charter in 1854, we have trained a lot of CAs since then, and in any given year, thousands of students are working with us to achieve the ‘chartered’ goal. We have a membership of 23,000 qualified CAs, a qualification that has shaped an international business community spanning industries and continents. We also play our part in leading on policy and influencing regulative and legislative developments, to make sure the profession keeps pace with our changing world across areas such as sustainability, ethics and standards.
The role:
The Head of Communications manages the planning and delivery of communications across ICAS channels to achieve our strategic business objectives. This includes delivering strong member, student, external, corporate and internal communications and PR, to increase satisfaction amongst key audiences and to improve our ability to influence decision makers.
The post oversees ICAS content strategy and delivery to grow our voice, profile, impact and influence, working closely with colleagues across Member Engagement and Communications and with other centres in the business as needed.
Stakeholder management, relationship building and the ability to influence positively across a wide spectrum of senior leaders, ICAS Office Bearers, ICAS colleagues, external stakeholders and third parties is key to success within this role.
The Head of Communications manages a communications team of 6.
This role reports to, and works closely with, the Director of Public Affairs and will also work closely with the Director of Engagement and Brand, Director of Practice, and other key internal stakeholders.
Who do we need?
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following:
· Experience in a senior content and communications position and in senior public relations and media management, skilled in handling complex media enquiries.
· A highly skilled, writer, editor and creative communicator, with a track record in developing and managing communications strategies, professional content and production processes across digital channels.
· Proven leadership, with experience of budget management and managing a team with varied projects and objectives, while championing collaboration and cross-team working. Comfortable working with and advising senior colleagues including the CEX.
· Outcomes focused, and able to embrace individual and joint accountability for results. You will need sound judgement and decision-making skills.
· Excellent English language written and verbal skills, and a confident presenter.
· A confident, proactive self-starter with the ability and drive to spin multiple plates, work at pace with accuracy, speed and diplomacy, delivering to our customer needs.
· An understanding of public affairs and/or policy development would be an advantage.

Salary: £53,500.00-£69,500.00 per year
