Whatever Honey conjures up for you – Ursula Andress emerging from the Caribbean ocean, or in our case rhyming slang for ‘money’ – it will mean something else once you have experienced working within our sumptuous 2 AA Rosette awarded restaurant "Honey" at Hotel Gotham.
We know that we have to be good to compete with the rest of Manchester’s fantastic foodie scene. So we’ve created a restaurant with atmosphere, a menu with a bit of bite and a name to get our guests thinking sweet thoughts.
We are seeking a Host / Hostess who will charismatically meet and greet all who enter our 2AA Rosette restaurant. You will be responsible for taking telephone calls and completing administration tasks associated with bookings, menu planning and payments along with ensuring that a seamless service is delivered. We are seeking a team player who can anticipate service requirements and assist the team with a variety of ad hoc duties when necessary.
This is the perfect role for someone with a bright personality and who is highly organised yet thrives on variety within a busy and social environment. You will be the eyes and ears of our team, always striving to connect with our guests, anticipate and correct gaps in service and act as a resourceful thinker.

As the Head Host you will be expected to take responsibility for the Hosting team. You will take responsibility for the service standards of the host team to ensure total guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities of the role:
- To ensure all service standards are maintained.
- To ensure you are attending all operational meetings daily/weekly.
- To ensure the department as a function, delivers the minimum Restaurant Standards.
- Ensure all standard checklists are used as prescribed.
- To empower team to be able to handle all guest feedback for positive and negative and record correctly.
- Actively consider prevention, recovery and investigation of any complaints.
- To strive to anticipate customer needs whenever possible and react to these to enhance customer satisfaction..
- To assist in the activity of quality awards such as IIP/AA.
- Ensure that company and legal standards for cleanliness are maintained within the department.
- Ensure that the team are correctly uniformed, in line with Company Standards and understand the importance of personal hygiene.
- Covering GILT club host stand with rota management, ensuring both areas are always covered.

Our old bank
Gotham is located at 100 King Street in the central conservation area and is housed in one of the city’s grandest, listed buildings - a former premises of Midland Bank. Standing at the head of King Street, proudly atop the hill amidst architectural nods to the Grecian and Baroque, Hotel Gotham draws inspiration from these surroundings and rises up like an imposing castle of stone and steel. Designed by Edwin Lutyens in 1928 in the Art Deco style of the time, is it any wonder it was referred to as ‘The King’? In terms of architecture, the neoclassical design is unusual for Manchester. But we quite like that. We celebrate difference at Gotham.
Behind the scenes
Hotel Gotham naturally draws attention to itself. It hit the national news in 2010 when it was alleged that safe deposit boxes containing jewellery and gold, not to mention master tapes from Joy Division and New Order recording sessions, were found on the site. Gotham was always going to be unpredictable and make a statement. It was always going to be a unique experience, a spectacular destination, with a taste for the theatrical. This is why we wanted to bring it to the Manchester Stage. At Gotham, we believe that luxury is as important as location and history. We believe style should complement substance, and we are not too taken by the idea of compromise. We don’t see Gotham as your average hotel. From day one it was always going to be special.
