Briddlesford Lodge Farm is a 200-acre dairy farm milking 150 pedigree Guernsey cows.
It encompasses a farm shop/café complex and a 'state of the art' milk processing dairy.
All the milk and much of the home-produced meat, is processed on site into high quality branded products, and sold direct to the consumer.
The aim of the business is to be self-sufficient and to promote Isle of Wight food and farming in the wider context.
We are currently looking for a highly skilled full time head herdsman to take on day-to-day herd management and associated workload.
The successful applicant must have excellent leadership qualities and communication skills.
He or she will be highly motivated, willing to deal with a range of farming challenges, and be able to delegate where appropriate whilst taking a 'hands on' approach to the daily duties and workload.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain excellent working practices and animal husbandry on the farm.
- Training of farm staff.
- Staff rotas
- Ordering of supplies.
- Ensure regulatory requirements are met and exceeded.
- Focus on profit and loss within the farming enterprise.
- Bring new ideas and creativity.
- Work closely with the other enterprises within our business and become a valuable member of our management team.
- Overall responsibility to ensure that workload is finished to a high standard daily.
Previous dairy farming experience is essential.
