Trinity College is the largest and one of the most renowned and prestigious of the Colleges of Cambridge University, with approximately 1,070 students and 190 Fellows, who are supported by over 340 staff.

We wish to appoint an ambitious Head Chef who will assist the Executive Head Chef with the production of innovative high-quality dishes. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with similar experience and a passion for food who wishes to develop their skills in a fast moving, varied and professional environment.

Working with high quality fresh ingredients in a fantastic modern kitchen you will be part of a team who are dedicated to providing meals for the whole Trinity community (Fellow, students and staff) as well as large and small functions and events which include private dinners/lunches, weddings, Feasts and other high profile special events.

Applicants must be creative, have a strong work ethic and be able to lead through example in order to inspire and train junior staff. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a busy team are essential as is the ability to foster good working relationships. A good working knowledge of health, safety and hygiene together with awareness of special diets and nutrition is important.

You should also have a proven and positive track record in a busy commercial environment, NVQ level 2/3 in Catering or equivalent, and a certificate in Food Hygiene.

This is a permanent full-time role (typically 37.5 hours per week on a straight shift rota) with a salary of £38,287 per annum plus a shift allowance of £4,594 (total £42,881) plus a generous benefits package which includes:
