Job Introduction

There are two posts available, 3 teaching days and 2 teaching days. These can be discussed during interview

The Creative Arts team at University Centre Leeds deliver a wide range of degrees in the visual and performing arts to over 300 students. We deliver practical creative programmes to prepare students to enter the creative industries.

There is a strong focus on developing the learners practical and creative skills, and their enterprising and employability skills helping them to grow as people to support their journey towards employment in the creative industries. All staff are involved in devising the curriculum in response to academic regulations and industry needs, as well as delivering and assessing modules.

We work closely as a team with a strong emphasis on mutual support. All staff are dedicated to the continuing evolution of the curriculum and have active personal practices to keep themselves up to date on developments in the worlds of education and industry.

Main Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver and assess a variety of Film and Screen Media modules

  • Create dynamic classes to develop students engagement with the programme

  • An ability to teach across multiple Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

  • Provide students with individual tutorials and study plans

  • Support multiple film and video projects across all levels of study

  • Create engaging and challenging skills development in a variety of film production areas

  • Support students with academic and professional development and autonomy

  • Support the development of the programme and produce materials for external activities

  • Participate in personal research and development, working toward your own professional knowledge and skill set

  • Assist in widening professional links and engagement with undergraduates

  • Contribute to the administrative duties of the programme, including external sampling and course development

  • Organise guest speakers and trips for students

The Ideal Candidate
  • We are looking for a candidate who is creative, enthusiastic, dynamic and forward thinking

  • The ideal candidate will work well as part of a team and be resilient and adaptable

  • We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills and would be happy working with people as well as being able to work independently when required

  • To have teaching experience, ideally within higher education

  • Have specialist knowledge in an area of production such as director, producer, cinematography, edit, sound

  • Be committed in helping students achieve their potential and future career aspirations

  • Have a passion for film, film theory and production

  • We are looking for an individual who likes to think differently about how stories are told

  • Ability to develop a leadership role in teaching
