We are actively looking for a Hardware Engineering Apprentice to join our Engineering team, based in Cambridge. The Hardware Engineering Apprentice will help develop world class electronic products across both Automotive and Motorsport sectors.
The Role:
- Reviewing design specifications to ensure that designs meet industry standards and regulations.
- Coordinating with other departments such as manufacturing and purchasing to ensure smooth testing of components to determine how they respond to physical forces such as stress, strain, or vibration.
- Developing new components that meet customer needs while saving costs and increasing efficiency in manufacturing processes.
- Identifying design flaws and recommending design changes to improve performance.
- Working with vendors to monitor the quality of materials and supplies to ensure compliance with standards.
- Reviewing computer models of component designs to identify potential problems before building prototypes.
- Working with suppliers to choose materials and processes that meet design specifications while keeping costs low.
- Developing manufacturing processes for components using computer aided design software (CAD) software.
- Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
- Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.
Candidate Profile:
Required:
- Strong interest in engineering.
- Good communication skills.
- Logical approach to problem solving.
- GCSE Grade 5 or above in Mathematics, Physics/Combined Science.
- Studying towards: Engineering Technician - Product Design & Development (L3) Apprenticeship Standard.
