Job description
The Music Tutor Limited is looking for an enthusiastic guitarist to join our team of tutors to teach group guitar lessons to current registered students. Applicants must be hardworking and have a good ability to play a range of songs from classics to modern. An understanding of grade structure including scales, chords, lead playing, rhythm playing, improvisation and music theory is essential. This opportunity would be ideal for someone working towards a qualification in music, someone requiring training to start teaching guitar or someone who needs part time income to fit around other commitments.
You will be working along side other music teachers at the business premises in Lincoln. You will be trained to provide group and one to one guitar tuition for registered students at The Music Tutor Limited. Teaching hours are currently Thursdays 5.20pm – 7.20pm and Saturday 10.20am – 12.20pm. There is also the potential for more hours as we start the new year and members increase to register for tuition.
Teaching experience is not essential as training will be provided. Ideally we would love to offer this position to someone who is wanting to start out as a guitar tutor and does not already teach privately. However if you are a current guitar teacher these hours could be ideal to top up your hours.
You will need to hold a current enhanced DBS certificate before starting this role. This can be arranged in advance if needed.
Job Requirements:
- You will need to demonstrate and teach a variety of genres and styles to guitar students learning electric, acoustic and bass.
- You will need a good knowledge of songs from classics to modern.
- You will need to be friendly to make students comfortable during their lessons.
- You will need to be confident in helping students develop the fundamentals of their instrument’s techniques, skills and music theory.
- You must be able to include progression during lessons through music grades with London College of Music and enter students for forthcoming exams.
- Ready to adapt to each student they teach and tailor the lessons to their needs/desires.
If you have a passion for playing guitar and want to pass on your knowledge to others this could be the perfect part time job for you.
