Growth Manager – Harrogate (Hybrid Working)

Grade L

Salary: £38,296 to £42,503

Contract: Permanent – Full time (37 hrs per week)

Location: Hybrid working/Harrogate, working from the Harrogate Co-Lab workspace and Civic Centre, with the expectation to visit sites across the county

Our Economic Development Service promotes and supports business growth across North Yorkshire, actively helping to realise the full economic potential of the county in a sustainable way. We work with partners to promote the economic attractions of the area, supporting inward investment and growth, and this is where you come in.

The role

As our Growth Manager you will lead responsibility for delivering a professional and bespoke 1:1 business engagement and support service. As the role has a relationship management function for businesses with growth intentions, you will engage with senior officers and directors of national and local companies to help them access resources to achieve their growth potential. You will also develop and maintain an effective network with partner organisations, such as the York & North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (the LEP), Growth Hub, Federation of Small Business (FSB) and other business support providers.

What you will bring

To be successful in this fantastic opportunity you will need to demonstrate:

  • In-depth knowledge of the opportunities and challenges facing growing businesses and how to respond to these effectively.
  • An understanding of the benefits of providing excellent customer service
  • Taking the lead in developing and maintaining trusted working relationships with business leaders, decision makers and senior managers, in both the private and public sectors
  • Working in close collaboration with wider business engagement and support networks, including government agencies e.g. Department for Business and Trade
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills
  • Accurately analysing and interpreting management information
  • Accurately analysing and interpreting business financial data
  • Developing bespoke business growth plans
  • Undertaking business diagnostics
  • Identifying and managing the range of business factors associated with business growth
  • Engaging with and delivering support to growth businesses
  • Educated degree level business or economics, or degree level qualification with a management body or the relevant business experience to match those

You will need the ability to think creatively, take the initiative and act independently as these are key attributes for this exciting and dynamic role.
