This role is an integral part of both the Whitworth Bros Ltd and Carr’s Flour Mills Ltd Operating Boards and will partner with the MDs and board members to deliver a proactive, pragmatic, responsive and added value HR service to the business. You will take a pro-active approach to advising directors and managers on statutory changes and developments in best practice, ensuring all employment legislative requirements are adhered to and ensuring you maintain a close link with our Legal Advisors. As well as managing and developing the HR team, you will be instrumental in formulating and implementing the People strategy, developing processes and policies across all aspects of HR and Learning and Development to ensure fairness and consistency across the Whitworths Group sites whilst making sound commercial decisions aligned with the business strategy. Key tasks and responsibilities include but not limited to:
· Continuously review and streamline contractual and non-contractual compensation and benefits arrangements.
· Continuously review, update and support on annual review process.
· Ensure we have a clear recruitment strategy and provide leadership guidance as required.
· Oversee communication programmes within the company such as the monthly team brief and help shape and develop our employer brand.
· To act as an independent conduit where employees can raise matters of concern in confidence, i.e. harassment, bullying, whistleblowing issues.
· Provide strategic reports with recommendations covering a range of HR aspects to include but not limited to, staff turnover and retention, salary and training, absence.
· Take the lead role in managing wage negotiations with Union representatives.
· Work with our H&S team to consider what mental health and well-being initiatives would improve business performance and to arrange for these to be delivered within agreed budgets and timescales.

· Desirably MCIPD qualified or equivalent.
· A sound knowledge of current employment law.
· Experience in managing and leading HR function across multi-site locations with carrying terms and conditions.
· Experience in handling complex ER cases and building and maintaining strong union relationships.
· A future focused, inquisitive and open-minded individual, who seeks out evolving and innovated ways to add value to the Group.
· The ability to analyse and understand data and information quickly. Using information, insight and knowledge in a structured way to identify options, making recommendations and robust decisions.

· A collaborative, determined and resourceful individual with the courage to challenge and confidence to speak up skilfully, even when confronted with resistance or unfamiliar circumstances.

· Full UK driving licence.
