Group Energy & Utilities Manager
Location: Flexible - UK / Hybrid
Permanent
Salary - £70,000 + extensive benefits
Our client, Babcock International are seeking to appoint a qualified Group Energy and Utilities Manager. The candidate can be based anywhere in the UK as the role offers Hybrid working with occasional site visit.
OVERALL PURPOSE
The Babcock Group Energy and Utilities Manager will be part of the Group Property team providing professional energy and water management services across the Babcock estate. The Energy and Utilities Manager will require a flexible approach to the role and be able to work under their own initiative. The Energy and Utilities Manager will be responsible for ensuring Babcock International are fully compliant with all energy related Legislation including the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) and Streamlined Energy & Carbon Reporting (SECR). The Energy and Utilities Manager will be responsible for utility procurement ensuring best value is obtained for all Babcock stake holders.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES OR MAIN TASKS
- Regular update of Energy Management Policy
- Utilities Procurement, including liaison with Energy Procurement consultant and suppliers
- Monitoring energy usage across the organisation including all built estate and transport
- Setting targets for energy reduction
- Undertake energy audits across an estate
- Prepare reports summarising energy usage
- Keep up to date with changes in energy regulation
- Liaise with Sector Directors to deliver performance updates
- Keep up to date with industry standard best practice
- Identify opportunities for investment in energy saving
- Provide reports and; prepare business cases for energy conservation projects.
- Ensure compliance with EPBD, ESOS & SECR, and other energy/carbon related legal and regulatory requirements
- Develop and maintain carbon footprints across Babcock's operations
- Support the development and delivery of Carbon Reduction Plans
- Advise on utilities and Building Services for New Build and refurbishment projects
- Advise business units on Energy and carbon management delivery to end customers
- Provide leadership, guidance and training to the Babcock's environmental professionals on energy and carbon related matters
- Provide thought leadership and represent Babcock at internal and external events
- Ensure Company health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented and complied with at all times
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of energy management skills
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of BMS and energy management software
- Excellent knowledge of Building Services
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft office packages.
- Sound understanding and knowledge of the Energy procurement market
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Project Management experience
- The role will require periodic travel.
- It is essential that the individual has good communication skills and can work with individuals at all levels.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
1. Qualifications
- Essential :
o Member of the Energy Institute or CIBSE
o Significant Professional experience of energy management.
o Utility Procurement experience
o Extensive knowledge of energy legislation, including EPBD, ESOS SECR
o Professional knowledge and experience of Building Services.
o Experience of utility metering and BEMS
o Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and a willingness to learn new skills / take on new challenges.

The successful candidate will need to satisfy Security Clearance Process.
