Overview / Responsibilities:
The role is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership of the functional aspects, supervisory/lead roles for GAR team members located across multiple locations on specific allocated audits. As a key member of the GAR wider leadership team, the role also contributes to the strategic direction of the GAR function. The role is accountable for related audit programme delivery for the respective BU and for designated Group functions, which involves the planning, coordination and delivery of GAR activity, including cross functional/audit team collaboration. The role provides input for regular updates to the Audit Committee on the internal audit plan, results and progress against the plan, and ongoing investigations.

Wood is looking for an engaging individual to become the Group Audit Manager - Commercial, reporting to the Vice President, Group Audit; this role could be based in any of our UK offices with hybrid working available. The Group Audit Manager - Commercial, will act as the key business partner to the respective functional leaders for the commercial services elements (including Commercial, Contracts, Supply Chain and Project Controls) of the Group Audit and Risk (GAR) audit programme across all Business Units (BU). The role provides assurance as to the adequacy and effectiveness of the commercial services control environment in the respective BUs and for designated Group functions as an integral part of the overall governance, risk, and control framework established by the ELT and the Board. The role also contributes to the development of a culture of risk awareness throughout the organisation and reporting on trends and themes from the audit conclusions.

Key Responsibilities
- The focal point and business partner for the commercial aspects of the GAR audit programme
- Coach and develop the GAR team members on commercial aspects of audit to build robust capability
- Ensure that business partners are aware of current issues related to their areas covered by the GAR audits and deliver periodic reporting to the business on trends and themes from the audit programme for the areas of their responsibility for consideration by the process/functional owners in their improvement process.
- Accountable for commercial services aspect of the audit programme delivery in the respective BU and designated Group functions, which involves the planning, coordination and delivery of the audit activity
- Responsible for building and maintaining effective working relationships with both internal and external business partners
- Provide input for regular updates to the Audit Committee on the GAR audit plan, results and progress against the plan, and ongoing investigations
- A member of the Group Audit & Risk wider leadership team who contributes to the strategic direction of the internal audit function
- Follow department priorities that are aligned with the needs of the business, with a focus on adding value through the implementation of efficient and cost effective practices, programs and services
- Participate and report on internal investigations in accordance with the Group’s Ethics Investigation Protocol, or otherwise, in cooperation with the Group Compliance and Legal functions, and external providers, as necessary
- Scope, execute and report on ad hoc advisory engagements, balancing with core commitments
- Promote the creation of an organisational culture which fosters innovation and collaboration, continuous improvement and change
- Lead by personal example and encourage all employees to conduct their activities in accordance with all applicable laws and the Group’s standards and policies

Qualifications:
- Relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree in business, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Supply Chain Management or other related fields – preferred
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Experience in project commercial assurance, audit and contract compliance and within FTSE 250 or international companies of similar scale and complexity
- Some international experience from working overseas or from time spent working on overseas assignments – willingness to travel domestically and internationally on audit assignments and to engage with leadership teams or audit team members (up to 50%) is essential
- Ability to demonstrate varied experience in the delivery on projects of in at least two of the following: Contract Management, Cost and Value assessment, Supply Chain Management, Change Control, Risk
- Knowledge of sound business and commercial control practices including IT systems
- Ability to quickly build relationships and engage at senior levels
- Experience of managing and developing team members who will be working remotely while out on audits and may be based in a different geography
