We have an exciting opportunity for a talented designer to join our small team based in Sutton Coldfield. Working alongside the Creative Director, you will have an abundance of energy and enthusiasm to produce beautifully designed artwork and websites that wow.

Working in a small team the successful candidate will develop close client relationships, provide exceptional customer experience to promote the benefits of working with Adventure and create high impact, individual print, branding and websites to fully meet and, where possible, exceed the client’s expectations. We pride ourselves on our personable and professional approach and prompt response and turnarounds, therefore, confidence around clients, excellent telephone and face to face communication skills and attention to detail are essential.

Job Duties

  • Using creativity and flair to design unique and appealing graphics and websites that match the client’s briefs and needs.
  • Build WordPress websites following client brief/visuals or liaise with web developers on bespoke website projects.
  • Carry out updates for the WordPress Care Packages and Adventure sites.
  • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and developing an interactive design that adds to the client experience.
  • Giving multiple options to clients or redesigning projects as needed.
  • Presenting new concepts and ideas to the Creative Director or clients.
  • Manage projects with the support of the Creative Director and the Business Development Manager.
  • Proofreading and using spelling/grammar software to produce accurate and high-quality work.
  • Working as part of the team and liaising with industry partners such as printers, copywriters, photographers, illustrators, other designers, account executives, web developers and marketing specialists.
  • Answering the telephone, fielding spam calls, taking messages and responding to incoming enquiries as necessary.
  • Meeting with clients and discussing their project needs.
  • Act as liaisons between printers and the clients to make sure to meet all needs.
  • Take appropriate opportunities to offer clients additional products/services, for example, the WordPress Care Packages, Emailers, Social media packages.
  • Managing the business independently to cover the Creative Directors holiday entitlement as necessary.

Skills and Qualifications

Formal qualifications and experience in WordPress are helpful but not essential. Successful applicants, however, should be able to demonstrate:

  • A positive and conscientious approach to their work commitment and customer focus.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for design, with a creative flair
  • Flexibility working in a team
  • Excellent communication skills to interpret and negotiate briefs with clients
  • The confidence to talk to, explain and sell ideas to clients and colleagues
  • Time management skills and the ability to cope with several projects at a time
  • Accuracy and attention to detail when finalising designs and launching websites.
  • Openness to feedback and using the points to make appropriate changes to your designs.
  • A solid understanding of the following software:
  • Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign
  • Print ready artwork knowledge
  • Proficient skills and understanding of building WordPress websites and the willingness to develop these skills.
  • Previous experience working in a commercial studio would be preferential, dealing with clients and working independently to meet deadlines.
