Job Overview
The Senior Graphic Designer will work as part of an in-house design team providing design and creative expertise to the marketing team and is a key partner in visually bringing FirstOntario products and services to life.
Role
- Act as a design thought leader for the FirstOntario brands, ensuring that all materials, staff and member-facing, accurately represent the brand's guidelines, look, feel and tone
- Work with the Marketing team from conception to completion. This includes following a briefing process, gathering assets, ideating new ideas and delivering approved creative on time
- Provide concept development, design and production for all printed assets (in-branch point of sales, posters, banners, training materials, newsletters, promotional items, etc.), digital screens, and digital assets for social channels, email, display and video/animation as requested by our brand, for multiple platforms and browsers
- Provide web concept development, layouts and assets, ensuring AODA compliance
- Design and manage all assets for download and usage through the TriplePlay content management system
- Present design recommendations and concepts with confidence and clarity
- Investigate and understand the markets/audiences to be targeted in the design
- Be informed of industry marketing trends and competitor campaigns, recommending improvements or changes to ensure FirstOntario remains competitive
- Lead and refine brand guidelines as necessary
- Consider health & safety as a primary concern to ensure the overall well-being of yourself and others
- Perform other duties as needed
Required Skills
- Have a post-secondary diploma or degree in graphic design or a related field with at least five (5) years of field experience in marketing and graphic design
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign), preferably in a PC environment
- Experience creating rich media assets, including videos, GIFs, cinemagraphs, and stop-motions is an asset
- Strong skillset in Microsoft PowerPoint
- Knowledge of web design processes and best practices, including image optimization, responsive design, basic HTML and CSS is an asset
- Proven experience working with business teams and supporting programs to drive awareness and sales through marketing and creative collateral
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines in a constantly changing environment
- Attention to detail to ensure that all specifications are met
- Creative mindset to be able to bring a design to life with simple instructions
- Strong organizational skills to keep up with various team requests and projects
- Flexibility to be able to switch between projects or pivot quickly should the requirements of the project change
- Be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as the job demands and travel as required
