Futures Design is the advanced concept design and incubation team within Amazon’s Devices and Services Design Group (DDG). We are responsible for exploring and defining think (very) big opportunities globally and locally — so that we can better understand how new products and services might enrich the lives of our customers and so that product teams and leaders can align on where we're going and why we're going there. We focus on a 3–10+ year time frame, with the runway to invent and design category-defining products and transformational customer experiences. Working with Amazon business and technology partners, we use research, design, and prototyping to guide early product development, bring greater clarity to engineering goals, and develop a UX-grounded point of view.
In this role, you will collaborate with a team of world-class multi-disciplinary designers to invent and deliver the core UX/UI building blocks for the future of Amazon's devices. You will concept and craft unique and compelling visual designs, collaborate with interaction designers, researchers, engineers and product managers. As a tastemaker and storyteller, you will advocate for design excellence – contribute to product vision, and define visually compelling UI designs for Amazon device experiences.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a keen eye for Visual UX design through elegant, modern design, and UI patterns. You think holistically, and craft the "why" of all that we concept and ship – advocating for your design solutions by putting them in context of business and customer goals. You have an understanding of visual systems and best practices, including layout, typography and have a curiosity and eye for pushing visual design in interfaces forward. You are engaged in both visualizing an experience in the abstract and driving that vision into concise deliverables and hands-on building with engineering teams. You can present your ideas confidently in creative reviews, inspire innovative design solutions, and a passion for elevating the visual experience of millions of customers around the world.
