About the role:

We are looking for an ambitious and passionate new team member to help Young Manchester grow in the coming months, in line with our vision:

“to create a Manchester where every child and young person can shape their city and realise their full potential through vibrant, connected, and inclusive opportunities”

The Grants and Partnership Officer will be ambitious, creative and organised with great people skills and some experience of grant or project management.

Since 2018, Young Manchester has delivered nearly £12 million of funding through grants to youth and play charities in Manchester.
In this role, you will support the smooth running of our grant management processes and help the team with youth-led grantmaking.

Young Manchester runs a free membership offer for not-for-profit organisations supporting children and young people in the city.

You will support the Head of Development and Partnerships to bring to life an exciting offer for Young Manchester’s 100+ members, and contribute to building a strong and influential network for the charity and its members, both locally and nationally.

This is a new role, joining a small team in a fast-paced organisation, so there is ample scope for the right applicant to develop this post and be part of an exciting period of growth for
Young Manchester.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support our Membership

  • Develop and organise activities as part of Young Manchester’s membership offer. This may include putting on events and training, sharing learning and signposting to support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, with a focus on understanding the needs of grassroots groups, youth-led groups, and groups led by communities that have traditionally been excluded.
  • Draw on your relationships with members to support the development of Young Manchester’s membership offer, ensuring it is responsive to their needs, inclusive and accessible for members from communities that have traditionally been excluded.

Strengthen our Partnerships

  • Work with the Head of Development and Partnerships to create, nurture and grow strong strategic partnerships (outside of our membership) across statutory, business, charity and funding sectors – both locally and nationally - which will deliver outcomes for children and young people in

Manchester.

  • Develop areas of knowledge and/or expertise and connect with local residents and community groups to ensure Young Manchester’s partnerships support our vision and serve the most excluded children and young people.
  • Support the team with development and delivery of bespoke projects with strategic and corporate partners.Manage Grants
  • Ensure the smooth running of our current grant programmes throughout the process from application to final evaluations. This includes: Organising grants panels; ensuring funded partners meet safeguarding requirements; setting up payment schedules with the Business Operations Officer; helping grantees with support requests; collecting monitoring from grantees in a timely manner; and collating and creating learning in accessible formats for funders and the public.
  • Accurately record all grant information on our Salesforce (our database management system), and support other team members to do the same.
  • Work with the Head of Development and Partnerships to develop and implement a framework to measure the impact of funding in line with our new Theory of Change.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve the grants process in line with feedback from grantees.
  • Support the Social Action Manager on the delivery of youth-led grants.

Be Part of the Team

  • Provide information and updates on activity to colleagues where it can support or shape their own work.
  • Uphold and promote Young Manchester’s values:
  • Be actively inclusive, non-discriminatory and anti-racist
  • Always work for the best interests of children and young people
  • Be open, transparent and collaborative for the benefit of children and young people
  • Place listening to, and acting on, the lived experiences of children and young people at the heart of your work
  • Be ambitious and strive for the best for all children and young people across Manchester
