Find excellence with us
You were born to provide brilliant animal care and we do that by empowering brilliant people like you. Join the IVC Evidensia Graduate Academy 2023 and find the very best start to your veterinary career.
About us
Clockhouse Vets is a progressive first opinion practice with a large and busy 24 hour hospital in the Cotswolds. We strive for gold standard care and are always updating our clinical protocols with new evidence and based on regular M&M rounds and team discussions. Or practice is fitted with the best facilities and equipment such as Laparoscopic surgery (bitch spay and cryptorchid castrations), portable patient side ultrasound machine, ECG, routine multiparameter monitoring of anaesthetics, dental suite, dental x-ray and an x-ray room.
We have a wonderful and supportive team of 10 Vets, 12 Nurses and 3 SVN students. We have one Vet who holds a Dermatology certificate, one working towards a Medical certificate and another working for their ECC certificate. Dedicated Nurse consults with one of our Nurses carrying out advanced Anaesthesia training.
We carry out practice meetings and M&M rounds every 3 months. There is a very active wellbeing team within the practice and we run regular social activities. This past few months we have run a samba band session, paint-a-pot and ninja warrior day.
About the role
Your normal hours of work are 40 hours per week, 5 days a week. Due to the particular needs of the business we need to operate a rota system, therefore there are no normal times of work applicable to you and your daily hours, start and finish times will vary from time to time on a rota system. The rota operates Monday to Friday inclusive. In addition, you may also be required to participate in a weekend rota and an out of hour rota.
We take the training of graduates very seriously and the whole Vet team are very keen on teaching and imparting knowledge and the aspiration is to develop you into an experienced and confident Vet and support you in further study should you wish. There will be a gradual and supported introduction into clinical work. All initial shifts will be shadowing another Vet and then shifts will include a named vet to support you. Your initial on call will have you as back up to an experienced Vet for you to learn and then when you are comfortable then you will move on to have a Vet as back up to you. A Vet will remain back up to you on call for the whole of your first two years. You will be mentored in consultations and will have regular hospital and surgery shifts with another vet to teach you all the relevant surgical, x-ray, dental, ultrasound skills that you will need to feel confident in time. We will have regular catch up sessions with the Clinical Director and with the VetGDP advisor to see where best we can support your development.
Applicant Requirements
We are looking for a new Graduate Veterinary Surgeon, eligible to register with the RCVS.
