Graduate Trainee, Security Analyst
LOCATION: UK
AXA XL has an exciting opportunity for a Graduate (or similar work experience) to join the Cyber Defense team, to help protect AXA XL from internal and external security threats.

The Graduate role is for 18 months, during this time the successful candidate will spend 6 months in each of the following teams - Security Operations, Data Security, and Identity governance.
This experience will provide the successful candidate a rounded understanding of Cyber Defense within a global financial institution, plus industry standard qualifications.
This role is an entry position for somebody with an IT or Security degree (or suitable experience), who wishes a career in IT or Information Security.
Security Operations
AXA XL’s Security Operation Centre (SOC) is key to our ability to detect and respond to security incidents.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Triage and investigate security alerts
- Undertake root cause analysis to identify the root cause of security incidents
- Work with other teams to advise them on the security incidents, enabling them to design and implement solutions to resolve the identified security incidents
- Under advice and guidance of more senior SOC analysts enhance existing processes to increase efficiency and detection capability of the SOC
At the end of the 6 months, you would be expected to have passed the relevant Microsoft SOC analyst qualification.
Data Security
AXA XL’s Data Security Team manages the tools, detection and response to data security incidents.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Triage and investigate data security alerts
- Make configuration updates to the data security tooling
- Under advice and guidance of more senior Data Security analysts enhance existing processes to increase efficiency and detection capability of the data security tools
At the end of the 6 months, you would be expected to have passed the relevant Microsoft Data leakage prevention analyst qualification
Identity Governance
Appropriate governance of identities is essential in ensuring the right people have access to the right data
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Operate and maintain the identity governance tools to detect areas of identity non-compliance
- Investigating and identifying the root cause of identity non-compliance and work with the relevant technical teams to resolve issues
- Under advice and guidance of more senior Identity analysts enhance existing processes to increase efficiency and detection capability of the identity tools

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
- An IT or Security degree or suitable on the job education
- Understanding of networking and network protocols
- Understanding of server technologies
- Understanding of messaging
- Understanding of Security fundamentals / principles
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in simple terms
- Self-motivated, with the ability to organize and prioritize and complete tasks to tight deadlines
