Job Purpose
To effectively and efficiently undertake a range of duties associated with the provision of teaching resources for full time and part time students and associated administration as requested by the Senior Teaching Technician in order to contribute to the School objectives.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To deliver a range of teaching and assessment materials, including training materials directed towards supporting the delivery of online and blended learning in subjects at undergraduate level.
2. To contribute to the development of appropriate teaching materials to ensure content and methods of delivery meet learning objectives.
3. To participate in analysis of the assessment process, using a variety of methods and techniques and provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to technical and academic staff.
4. To assist in the transfer of knowledge by advising students and demonstrating staff, collectively and individually, on skills, methods and techniques which may include facilitating different forms of small group work and/or participating in the supervision of practical work.
5. To contribute, as appropriate, to the ongoing development and design of the curriculum, in a manner that supports a research led and scholarly approach to student learning.
6. To undertake limited administrative duties as requested by the Senior Teaching Technician.
7. To engage in training in teaching, assessment and other related activities, as required.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Good first degree in subject area.
A2 A postgraduate qualification or equivalent, or current enrolment as a postgraduate research student.
A3 Appropriate level of knowledge and expertise in the subject specialism.
Skills
Essential:
C1 Excellent communication and language skills both oral and written.
C2 Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills.
C3 Time/project/management skills as appropriate.
C4 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
C5 Ability to work with little supervision.
C6 Self-motivation.
C7 Ability to accept collegiate responsibilities and act accordingly.
Experience
Essential:
E1 Participation in small group learning.
Desirable:
F1 Successful completion of first year of postgraduate research degree.
F2 Previous teaching experience.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, £31,502 - £35,308 per annum, pro-rata.
This post is part time 0.2 FTE (7 hours per week) and is offered on a fixed term basis for 22 months.
