Description

We are seeking a graduate to join BDP’s growing sustainability profession. The successful candidate will have a passion for sustainability in the built environment, demonstrated through qualification in a relevant subject. They will be enthusiastic and driven to effect change through the practical implementation of the principles of sustainability. Some experience in design and/or architecture would be beneficial.

The successful candidate will join a growing team of specialist consultants working across all areas of the built environment. They will assist in the delivery of sustainability strategies, including environmental assessment, life-cycle assessment, and performance monitoring, for a range of projects across different sectors and scales. They will be supported by a team of specialist consultants alongside BDP’s wider design professions, including planners, interior designers, landscape architects, architects, engineers and a range of specialists.

They must have the ability to communicate effectively as well as possessing numerical, analytical and graphical skills. They will be able to work well within a team.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A relevant qualification in environmental design and/or a sustainability related subject
  • An understanding of the interdependencies of sustainability aspects and impacts in the built environment
  • Exemplary written and spoken English, with experience of report writing and presentations

Desirable:

  • Experience in working in the built environment
  • Experience in implementing sustainability initiatives in projects or organisations
  • Working towards or possessing Chartership with a relevant body

  • Ecological assessment and consultancy
  • Post-occupancy evaluation and building optimisation
  • Knowledge sharing and training
  • Environmental / Energy management system support

Group Objectives

  • To evolve and expand the knowledge of the organisation, raising the company’s profile for delivering consistently environmentally conscious places and buildings
  • To ensure that the company develops and expands its environmental and sustainability services internally and externally, working to influence design proposals and lift design quality
  • To become accepted as a resource for sustainable design advocacy and creativity, working closely with different teams to provide low impact, healthy and value added design solutions
  • To work with the studios, profession heads and board of directors to ensure the sustainability agenda is communicated effectively throughout the practice
  • To work to reduce the environmental impact of our day-to-day operations in line with our ISO 14001 and 50001 certification.
  • To be regarded as a thought leader for aspects of the sustainability agenda
