Job description

The Department of Computer Science is seeking to recruit a Graduate Studies Assistant (PGT) to provide high-quality administrative and organisational support to the Academic Administration team.
You will be the first point of contact for academic staff and students in relation to the MSc in Advanced Computer Science and be responsible for a range of tasks including on course administration, servicing the supervisory committee and co-ordinating project allocation.
Reporting to the Deputy Academic Administrator, you will be based within the academic administration team and will have the opportunity to build up a high level of expertise on graduate administration policies and procedures. This knowledge will enable you to confidently provide accurate advice to academics, current, and prospective students. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in University administration. The workload is varied and demanding, requiring first class judgement and attention to detail. The Graduate Studies Assistant provides support to this post and general help from the wider student administration team may be available during busier times.

You will have previous experience of administration, preferably in higher education or a similar field. You will have proven organisation skills, together with the ability to meet often conflicting deadlines and overlapping schedules. You will have a proven ability to contribute as a member of a team. You should be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, and be willing to resolve situations, as well as knowing when to refer issues to others.
Applicants will be required to upload a supporting statement, setting out how you meet the selection criteria.
The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 21st April 2023. Interviews are expected to be held in May.
We are a Stonewall Top 100 Employer, Living Wage and Mindful Employer, holding an Athena Swan Bronze Award, HR excellence in Research and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award.
Our staff and students come from all over the world and we proudly promote a friendly and inclusive culture. Diversity is positively encouraged, through diversity groups and champions, as well as a number of family-friendly policies, such as the right to apply for flexible working and support for staff returning from periods of extended absence, for example shared parental leave.
Demonstrating a commitment to provide equality of opportunity. We would particularly welcome applications from women and black and minority ethnic applicants who are currently under-represented within the Computer Science Department. All applicants will be judged on merit, according to the selection criteria.
