Job Description
This position will expose the Graduate to the high-speed pace of hub operations and give them a chance to prove themselves every quarter as they are challenged to improve the Hub Operations. Through the 2 year program, rotations will take place on different operations and operations support teams.
The Graduate will report to the Innovation Manager and closely follow a rotation scheme every 3 months, focusing on learning the value that each department is adding to the operations and executing an improvement project that will test the acquired knowledge.
Heavy involvement with the night-to-night operations will be expected, as the Graduate will have a direct impact on the most important Key Performance Indicators. The rotations will emphasize all the operational areas in the hubs, throughout all of the DPD hub sites.
Additionally, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing are highly recommended as they will ensure projects and tasks are delivered effectively. The Graduate should be able to work and travel across multiple sites on Hinckley, Oldbury and Smethwick.
Please note we can only accept candidates who have the right to work in the UK, and you will work nights in parallel with the hub operations.
Responsibilities
Identify and contribute to the improvement of the operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Manage and lead hub sections from all the different areas in the hub operations, while reaching all the necessary KPIs
Resourcing additional staff at short notice in the event of any employee absence
Liaise and identify project stakeholders to identify and define requirements, scope, and objectives
Achieving the Hub objectives relating to Health & Safety and productivity to deliver outstanding service to our Depots and Customers
Communicate project status to all participants, building any necessary dashboards or reports
What we’re looking for
You will be educated to degree level- ideally this would be in a subject surrounding Business, Logistics or Supply Chain
The ability to do comprehensive reporting, alongside analysis of data is a key requirement for this role.
Have demonstrable background in the use of Microsoft Office or Google Suite at an advanced level.
Demonstrate high levels of resilience, self-motivation and flexibility.
A confident communicator at all levels.
What we’re looking for
You will be ideally qualified to Masters level however a minimum of 2:1 Bachelors Degree classification, in a Business, Operations, Supply Chain or Statistical Analysis subject.
You will have strong communication skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and manage a team.
Decisive and effective decision-making, problem resolution, and time management skills.
Demonstrate high levels of resilience, self-motivation, and flexibility.
Excellent computer skills with the ability to use Google chrome applications
The ability to do comprehensive reporting, alongside analysis of data is recommended
You will be highly vigilant to any unscrupulous activity taking swift and appropriate action when required.

Job Specifics
Due to the Nature of our operation this role will require you to work nights. Typically this will be Monday-Friday although some weekend work at busy times may be required
You will have a comprehensive induction to DPD, this will include both a corporate induction followed by a thorough induction of our Hubs and wider Network Operation.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
