The Role:
A number of planning graduates are sought to undertake development management in the Planning Applications Team. Successful candidates will demonstrate that they can handle a demanding caseload of a wide variety of smaller planning applications. This will involve undertaking site inspections, assessing planning merits, interpreting development plan policies, reading plans, and preparing well-written reports recommending to grant or refuse planning permission. Officers are also responsible for giving good planning advice to prospective developers and handling any planning appeals that arise.
About You:
You will be a graduate with a town planning (or very closely related) degree, possibly with some experience working in a planning-related field. You will have good communication skills, be organised, and able to explain complex issues to a wide variety of customers. You will be able to understand technical plans and documents and appreciate how the planning system achieves benefits for the wider community.
