What are we looking for?
We are looking for a talented and motivated Environmental Consultant to join our search writing team.
The position is for an office-based writer of environmental assessment reports for financial and property lending transactions and to answer client queries about these reports. The expectation is that the role will require weekly attendance at the office, so you should be suitably located. It is possible to work from home when not in the office, providing you have a suitable space.
The role involves:
- Learning and becoming proficient in writing reports;
- Writing reports; and
- Answering client queries.
Training and development on the job is an important part of the role and we encourage you to develop your skills rapidly. This post is the first step in a process of development, with promotion, through our Consultancy Team increasing the range of skills at each step.
Key responsibilities
- Write residential and commercial reports and determine their environmental risk rating using data from the report, our GIS system and additional information sources.
- Discuss/ consult on report outcomes and results with solicitors and the public.
- Answer technical and non-technical queries.
- Submit contaminated land enquiries to the Local Authority.
- Support the team and line management, as directed.
Additional Tasks
- Take an active interest in how reports are written, what is considered and whether there are ways they could be improved.
- Ongoing on the job training and independent learning relevant to Groundsure’s objectives. This list is not exhaustive and there may be other activities you are required to deliver.
Who are you?
Essential:
- Enjoyment of working with detail and efficiently providing consistent accurate reports
- Excellent written and verbal communication, particularly to the public with no technical background.
Preferred Working knowledge of:
- Environmental datasets and their limitations.
- Wider aspect of the environmental agenda.
- GSuite and QGIS

We are working remotely from home, although some face to face training will be required in our Covid secure office in Brighton.
