West Fraser is a diversified wood products company with more than 60 facilities in Canada, the United States and Europe. From responsibly sourced and sustainably managed forest resources, the company produces lumber, engineered wood (OSB, LVL, MDF, plywood, particleboard), and other products including pulp, newsprint, wood chips and renewable energy.
Our UK-manufactured products are used extensively in the construction, DIY and furniture sectors. Our brands, SterlingOSB Zero, CaberFloor and CaberMDF, are well known in the construction industry and are commonly specified by architects, national housebuilders, and specifiers.

We are currently recruiting Graduate Mechanical Engineers for our Inverness site.
These are 2-year programmes, providing exposure to manufacturing and non-manufacturing placements.
Throughout your placement, some of the areas you will be involved in include:
- Assisting/Planning new Engineering Projects.
- Support new project capital applications.
- Personal engineering skills development.
- Problem solving (day to day & long-term problems).
- Support maintenance activities.
- Daily workload/activity management
During the programme you will be mentored by an industry expert and spend time in the following areas of the mill, providing you with a broad overview of the process and operations:
- EHS
- Maintenance
- Production
- Lab/Quality/Technical
- Projects
- Finance
- Strategic Planning
You will also receive upskilling in the following fields:
- Safety and Environmental Practices and Legislation
- Technical
- Professional
- Business Acumen
- Soft Skills
