The Role!
Great things are happening here at Southern Water, there has never been a better time to join our organisation as we build towards a resilient water future for the South East and build a diverse and inclusive workforce for the future (we have been ranked in top 50 inclusive companies 2 years running). As a Graduate Management Trainee, you will be part of our future, driving sustainable and impactful change for our customers and for the preservation of our natural environment all along the south coast of England.
Our 2-year graduate programme is designed to provide you with a high level of support, training, and development to give you a flying start to your career. By the end of the 2-year programme you will have the knowledge, skills and experience you need to move into a role involving operational and people management. We have far more opportunities than you imagine, you will be able to diversify your career at any point in your journey here.
You will be supported with a wide range of further training and development, including a Management Apprenticeship (Level 3) which will help you to build your people management skills in preparation for your next role managing a team.
You will be provided with all the necessary technical training and resources with the trust and autonomy to explore the abundance of opportunities we can offer. You will also have the chance to rotate between different areas of the business to gain a great all-round understanding of how we operate, which will set you up for success in your next role and beyond.
Throughout the programme you will be well supported by your manager, the graduate development team, placement hosts and a specially selected mentor who you will meet with on a regular basis.
You will attend regular graduate development events and take part in a range of different activities including giving back to the community. You will meet other Graduates on the programme and take part in a variety of projects which will help you to develop your skills and network further.

Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, because delivering water for life is our core purpose. To achieve this, we need 24/7 support in place to resolve incidents quickly and efficiently. All our employees understand the importance of out-of-hours incident support – because when problems appear, fixing them is our top priority. That’s why our people join together and support when and however needed to make sure our customers get the service they deserve. During the interview process, we will speak to you about any incident support rotas that apply to your position.
