Job description
The Devices Software Team implements all aspects of software within Sepura’s radio products and related accessories (e.g. chargers and consoles). The team contains engineers with skills covering embedded Linux, Android AOSP, bare metal devices, Android Applications, mobile/wireless protocol stack implementation and integration, and UI/UX development. The common factor being that we are all developing software for embedded, realtime devices.
We are now seeking software developers wishing to gain experience across the embedded space we work in and, hence, to work across our full product range.
These roles are ideally suited to recent graduates, or engineers looking for a first job move. Typically engineers in the Devices Software Team have a good understanding of basic electronics design and implementation, like working with real, physical, devices, but want to focus on Software development.

Your Role
Software Development at Sepura follows an Agile process, based around a number of Scrum Teams
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Software Development contribution as a member of one of our Scrum Teams:
- Requirements analysis
- Design
- Implementation
- Developer Test
- Fault fixing
Your Day to Day
Our customer base includes many different industries and markets around the world. Our complete TETRA and LTE solutions have been developed specifically for users in multiple sectors to face their critical communications challenges.
There is no such thing as a typical day here at Sepura. You will be supported by your manager and other team members, as well as collaborating with other departments across the business. The Software Team at Sepura follows an Agile development process centred around the heartbeat of Scrum ceremonies. During each sprint you could be taking on several tasks related to several of the responsibilities listed above.
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Electronics, Computer Science or Software Engineering)
Experience and Skills
- Knowledge of a variety of programming languages (e.g. C, C++, Java)
- Exposure to real-time, multi-processor, multi-threaded, event-driven software, possibly gained on university project work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills. Enjoys investigating and solving challenging real-time platform issues.
- Innovative - ability to generate new ideas and approaches to problems.
- Tenacity to probe issues to understand their root causes.
- Good analytical, numerical, written, and verbal communications skills.
- Able to apply initiative when required and will take ownership for the achievement of their own activities.
Nice to Have
- Embedded Linux Kernel and user-space software development experience.
- Android AOSP software development experience.
- Familiarity with working with a hardware development team (interpretation of schematics and practical knowledge of debugging using logic analysers and oscilloscopes).
