At the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team a group of passionate and enthusiastic people work to design and develop the cars driven by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and rising star George Russell.
The Team has set a new benchmark for Formula One success during the sport’s current Hybrid era, winning consecutive Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, and the Constructors’ Championship in 2021.
The Role:
We have an exciting opening for a Graduate/Junior Model Design Engineer within our Aerodynamic model design team. You will be involved in the whole journey of the wind tunnel components, from conceptual surface design through to the components running in our state-of-the-art Wind tunnel model. Reporting to a Lead Aerodynamic Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing 60% scale model components, on-time and to a consistent standard
- Planning and releasing parts for manufacture
- Providing support and information for the preparation and testing of components
- Surfacing design concepts, working alongside Aerodynamicists
- Improving our processes, methodologies and capabilities

What we are looking for:
You are passionate about design, applying your skills and understanding to create practical engineering solutions.
Your commitment and diligence have yielded good university results: you have completed, or will soon be completing, a relevant course of study, for example a degree in Mechanical or Motorsports Engineering.
You have experience using CAD for engineering design - we use CATIA 3DX, but candidates with experience of other packages and who are interested in developing their skills are also welcome. A prior interest in motorsport or an understanding of aerodynamics are not required.
With an open and honest communication style and a broad overview of your subject, you relish collaborating in a team setting and enjoy discussing technical challenges. You are also comfortable working on your own, applying your reflective nature, interpretive skills, attention to detail and dependable judgment to understand problems, then propose and implement resolutions in a timely fashion.
You have a curious and creative mind, and are looking to develop yourself further in a demanding role. Passionate about fulfilling your potential, you are excited about constantly learning while fostering the understanding of others.
